August 3-4, 2020 at Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University – Thai Dental Faculties Board (T.D.F.B.) and Faculty of Dentistry of Khon Kaen University organized online training: “Junior Faculty Development Program in Dental Education” through ZOOM webinar. Over 200 participants from faculties of dentistry all over the country joined. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waranuch Pitiphat, D.D.S., Dean of Faculty of Dentistry of Khon Kaen University and Chairperson of the Dentistry Education Sub-Committee, Thai Dental Faculties Board, presided over the opening ceremony.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Waranuch Pitiphat, D.D.S., said, “The training on Junior Faculty Development Program in Dental Education is our preparation for and strengthening of potentialities in operations of dentistry lecturers. We are aware that the key mission is to prepare quality dentists, promote research for new bodies of knowledge and application of the knowledge for dental treatment and social services. Thai Dental Faculties Board (T.D.F.B.) places importance of dentistry faculty development according to the policy of Office of Higher Education Commission so that we will have quality dentistry lecturers in the higher education system. Presently, the world environment and conditions have changed, especially when we have to face the spread of COVID-19. The education paradigm thus needs to be adjusted, and instruction needs to be improved and modernized to respond to the situation. Graduates must possess the qualities that meet the national higher education standards. Therefore, development of lecturers, instruction, organization and the implementation structure must be developed, by considering the professionality. This training has been organized for the second time, and it is hoped that it will continuously be organized in the future.”
